In last night’s meeting, Dorchester County Council approved on the third reading, an amendment of Ordinance Number 26-06, adding a New Sec. 42-10 to “Prohibit Trucks with More Than 6 Wheels from Using Sandhill Road (S-18-248) From its Intersection with US Highway 178 (E Main Street) to US Highway 78 and School House Road (S-18-25) From its Intersection with US Highway 178 (E Main Street) to US Highway 78.”
This will greatly limit heavy trucks using our Dorchester neighborhoods and short-cuts from US-178 to US-78. Additionally, this should allow for future repaving of Sandhill, School House, and roads by SCDOT, and ofFirehouse Road by the county.
The meeting was well attended, and there were a number of local residents in attendance, as well as our State Representative Robbie Robins.
